# Using custom components

Talend Studio allows you to install the custom components you create or the ones you download from [Talend community](https://community.talend.com/s/group/0F93p0000000VNtCAM/component-development?language=en_US) or [the public archive on GitHub](https://github.com/TalendExchange). You can then use them in the Job designs you carry out in Talend Studio.

To install custom components, you must store them in a specific folder, and specify the user component folder on the Talend > Components view in the Preferences dialog box.
