# Installing Talend Remote Engine

Talend Remote Engines allow you to run tasks on premises.

Before choosing a version to install, check its support status in [Talend Remote Engine lifecycle](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/customer-support-statements/Cloud/talend-remote-engine-lifecyle).

You can download Talend Remote Engine from the [Talend Cloud portal](https://cloud.talend.com/) with an installer ( exe executable file) or in an archive ( zip).

The Talend Remote Engine directory path must not contain spaces.

Data service and Route tasks can only be deployed on Remote Engines.
