# Talend Installers specific prerequisites

## Talend Installer prerequisites

Prior to launching the Talend Installer, confirm you followed these prerequisites:

* * Available in:
  * Big Data
  * Data Integration

* You have downloaded the Talend-Tools-Installer-YYYYYYYY\_YYYY-VA.B.C-installer.zip file from your license email and extracted its folder.

  The extracted folder contains a dist file and executable files corresponding to the supported operating systems.

  For Linux, use Talend-Tools-Installer-YYYYYYYY\_YYYY-V-A.B.C-linux-x64-installer.run.

  In the file name, YYYYYYYY\_YYYY is the timestamp and A.B.C is the revision level (Major.Minor.Patch).

  * Available in:
  * Big Data Platform
  * Data Fabric
  * Data Management Platform
  * Data Services Platform
  * ESB
  * Qlik Cloud Enterprise Edition
  * Qlik Talend Cloud Enterprise Edition
  * Qlik Talend Cloud Premium Edition
  * Real-Time Big Data Platform

* You have downloaded two files from your license email, a zip and a dist file, and you stored both files in the same directory. You extracted the zip file in this directory.

  The extracted folder contains the executable files for every supported operating system.

  For Linux, use Talend-Installer-YYYYYYYY\_YYYY-VA.B.C-linux-x64-installer.run

  In the file name, YYYYYYYY\_YYYY is the timestamp and A.B.C is the revision level (Major.Minor.Patch).

* You have downloaded the license file from your license email, with no file extension.

* JRE 17 or higher is installed on the machine on which you want to install the Talend modules.

  Information noteNote: With JRE, make sure the jvm.dll file is located in your JRE directory under the bin\server\ folder.

* To enable Talend Installer graphical installation mode with Rocky Linux, before launching the Installer as a root user, use the command xhost local:root as a regular user.

* If Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) is activated before you run the Talend Installer, it might prevent the installation of some applications. You should temporarily deactivate SELinux by running the following command: setenforce Permissive. SELinux will reactivate automatically after the next reboot.

* Confirm that all required ports are open. For more information, see [Proxy and firewall allowlist information](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/installation-guide-linux/8.0/proxy-and-firewall-allowlist-information "The following tables list important TCP/IP ports and outbound endpoints used by Talend products.").

* If you want to install Talend Data Stewardship, Talend Data Preparation, and Talend Dictionary Service, make sure you have installed and configured a MongoDB instance to which you can connect. For more information, see [Installing and configuring MongoDB to prepare for Talend Installer installation](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/installation-guide-linux/8.0/installing-configuring-mongodb "Before you install Talend Data Stewardship, Talend Data Preparation, or Talend Dictionary Service with a Talend Installer, you must install and configure a MongoDB instance.").

* If you are reinstalling or upgrading Talend Data Stewardship or Talend Data Preparation, be aware that the upgraded MinIO version in recent installers may cause existing configuration or data to become inaccessible.

  This can result in "artifact not found" errors. If you encounter these errors, create, delete, or update a semantic type. This action regenerates the affected artifact and uploads it back to MinIO.

* If you want to configure your Talend modules to use Talend LogServer during the installer installation, you must install Talend LogServer manually before you run the installer. See [Installing and configuring Talend logging modules (deprecated)](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/installation-guide-linux/8.0/installing-and-configuring-talend-logging-modules).

A umask value of 022 is required during installation. Other umask values are not supported.

Note that Talend Installer does not support the sdshell utility.

IMPORTANT:

Talend Installer allows you to get out-of-the-box Talend solutions that do not require any manual installation. However, these solutions are not provided in a production-ready environment as they may require additional configurations or optimizations according to your specific needs.

For example, you may want to change the MySQL database that is embedded by default in Talend Administration Center with your own database (PostgreSQL or Oracle for example). If you do this, you need to install the driver for the relevant database. For more information, see [Installing database drivers in your Web application server](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/installation-guide-linux/8.0/installing-database-drivers-in-your-web-application-server "If you are not using the MySQL or embedded H2 database with Talend Administration Center, you must install the driver for the database to use in your Web application server.").

Information noteTip: Talend Installer is used only for first installations of Talend solutions. For more information about the migration and upgrade processes, see [Talend Migration and Upgrade Guide](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/migration-upgrade-guide/8.0).

## Talend Studio Installer prerequisites

Talend Studio Installer is a convenient way of installing your Talend Studio. As it comes with an embedded Java Environment, you can install it directly from the installer.

Prior to launching the Talend Studio Installer, confirm you followed these prerequisites:

*
* Download the TalendStudio-A-B-C-linux-x64-installer.run file from your license email.

When installing Talend Studio, either using the installer or manually, a minimal version with some basic Data Integration features is installed. After Talend Studio installation, to use those features that are not shipped with Talend Studio by default, you need to install them through the Feature Manager. For more information, see [Installing and updating Talend Studio](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/installation-guide-linux/8.0/install-studio-cloud) and [Managing features in Talend Studio](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/studio-user-guide/8.0/managing-features-in-talend-studio).

Talend provides monthly updates that contain new features and bug fixes for Talend Studio. After installing Talend Studio, you can configure how to update it. For more information, see [Updating Talend Studio](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/installation-guide-linux/8.0/updating-talend-studio "Qlik provides monthly and support updates for Talend Studio.").

Information noteWarning: Make sure that the path of your installation directory and that of your workspace directory contain no space or special characters, which may cause Talend Studio to fail to work because of JVM compatibility issues.
