# Installing Talend Studio using the archive

## Procedure

1. From your license email, download the Talend Studio archive file.

The filename depends on your license and is either Talend-Studio-YYYYYYYY\_YYYY-VA.B.C.zip or Talend-Tools-Studio-YYYYYYYY\_YYYY-VA.B.C.zip.
2. Copy the archive to a directory of your choice.

   Information noteWarning: Make sure that:
   * The installation path contains no space or special characters, which may cause Talend Studio to fail to work because of JVM compatibility issues.

   * The installation path is as short as possible to prevent installation issues such as failure of extracting files to the target directories.

For a related topic, see [Unable to publish an artifact to Talend Cloud?](https://help.qlik.com/talend/r/en-US/8.0/unable-to-publish-to-cloud/unable2publish2cloud).
3. Unzip the archive.
4. From your license email, download your license file and save it at the root of the extracted directory.

The license file must have no extension.
