# Selecting and configuring the database

Available in...

* Data Fabric
* MDM Platform

## Procedure

1. From the Select Database Type window, select the type of database from the Database Type drop-down list, then click Next.

   If you select a database other than the embedded H2 database, you must manually install the database drivers in <TomcatPath>/webapps/talendmdm/WEB-INF/lib before using Talend products.

   Information noteNote: If you have more than one driver version installed you might experience errors.
2. After selecting a database, configure it in the Configure connection to RDBMS window:
   * For the H2 database:
     1. Choose the database generation policy. You have a choice between creating a database for each container, or using a single database for all containers.
     2. Enter the User name and Password to use for connecting to the database.
