# Installing the SAP Java Connector

The SAP Java Connector (JCO) enables Talend Studio to communicate with the SAP system via SAP's RFC protocol. It must be installed before using Talend SAP components and SAP metadata wizard.

This article explains how to install the SAP Java Connector into Talend Studio on Windows 7 64-bit, Red Hat 64-bit, and Talend Cloud. It applies to all Talend products on subscription from v5.6 upwards. For how to install the SAP Java Connector on other systems (such as Sun, IBM AIX, etc.), please read the SAP Java Connector installation guide page mentioned below and refer to the installation procedure for Windows and Red Hat.
