# Shut down the Qlik associative engine

Shut down the Qlik associative engine in Qlik Sense Desktop by using the [ShutdownProcess method](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-developer/November2025/Subsystems/EngineJSONAPI/Content/service-global-shutdownprocess.htm).

## Example

The goal is to shutdown the Qlik associative engine. The handle of the request is -1 because the [ShutdownProcess method](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-developer/November2025/Subsystems/EngineJSONAPI/Content/service-global-shutdownprocess.htm) applies at the global level.

The client sends:
