# Get the description of a field

Get the description of a field by using the [GetFieldDescription method](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-developer/May2026/Subsystems/EngineJSONAPI/Content/service-doc-getfielddescription.htm).

#### The goal is to get the description of a field named ShipperID.
