# List the tables and fields in a XML or JSON file for a folder connection

List the tables and fields of a XML file or from a JSON file, for a folder connection by using the [GetFileTablesEx method](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-developer/May2026/Subsystems/EngineJSONAPI/Content/service-doc-getfiletablesex.htm).

#### The goal is to list the tables and fields of a XML file.

The type of the connection is folder and the identifier of the connection is C28CBBA8-83B63E70-FA9E784E-BB58CD3B-B72BFAF8.

The name of the file is Cities.xml.

The client sends:

The table catalog/city contains five fields: id, name, size, country and language.
