# setNumValue method

qlik.app.variable.setNumValue(qName, qVal)

Sets a numeric value as a variable.

Information noteThese changes are not persistent. They only last the duration of the engine session.

## Parameters

### qName

Type: String

Variable name.

### qVal

Type: String

Variable value.

## Returns

A promise of a Qlik associative engine reply.
