# Shared content: Delete content

## Description

Delete content (located at the external path specified by the `{externalpath}` parameter) from a shared content entity, identified by `{id}`. The contained `SharedContentReference` entities that begin with the specified `externalpath`, as well as the files in the repository that they reference, are deleted. To specify a folder for the external path, include a forward slash after the folder name.

The response code `204 No Content` is returned if the call is successful (the specified content was deleted) or if there was nothing to delete.

Information noteTo delete the `sharedcontent` entity itself, use `DELETE /qrs/sharedcontent/{id}`, where `{id}` specifies the ` sharedcontent  ` entity to delete.
