# Get the handle of a child

Get the handle of a child by using the [GetChild method](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-developer/May2025/Subsystems/EngineJSONAPI/Content/service-genericobject-getchild.htm).

#### The goal is to get the handle of the bar chart BarChart01.

The bar chart is part of a sheet. The sheet has 2 as a handle.

The client sends:
