# Get the identifier of a variable

Get the identifier of a variable by using the [GetInfo method](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-developer/May2025/Subsystems/EngineJSONAPI/Content/service-genericvariable-getinfo.htm).

#### The goal is to get the identifier of a variable.

Prerequisite: The variable is previously created and has 2 as a handle.

The client sends:
