Exporting and importing widget libraries

So that the widgets you have created can be used by others in Qlik Sense, you have to export the widget libraries they belong to. Also, you can import widget libraries others have created.

Export a widget library in Qlik Sense Desktop

You export a widget library from the Dev Hub start page.

Do the following:

  1. On the Dev Hub start page, right click the widget library you want to export.

  2. Select Export library from the context menu.

The widget library is exported to a ZIP file which is saved, by default, in the Downloads folder of the local user account.

Information noteThe default download location may be different depending on individual browser settings.

Export a widget library in Qlik Sense Enterprise

You can export widget libraries via the Qlik Management Console (QMC).

Do the following:

  1. Open Qlik Management Console.
  2. Select Extensions on the QMC start page or from the Start Arrow down drop-down menu to display the overview.
  3. Select the widget library from the list and then click Export.

The widget library is exported to a ZIP file that is saved in the \Users\<username>\Downloads folder on your local machine.

You have now exported a widget library and you can share it with others.

Import a widget library

You import a widget library from the Dev Hub start page.

Warning noteAlthough widget libraries can be imported from both QMC and Dev Hub, the uniqueness check of a widget is only performed when importing from Dev Hub. Therefore, we strongly recommended you import all widget libraries from Dev Hub.

Do the following:

  1. Make sure the widget library to import has been properly exported to a ZIP file.

  2. On the Dev Hub start page, click Add and select Import widget library.

  3. Locate the ZIP file containing the widget library to import and then click Open.

The widget library is then imported. The widget library was successfully imported is displayed when completed.

  4. The imported widget library can now be accessed from Dev Hub.

Widget library selection with listed libraries and 'Create new widget library' button
