Create new version of a custom component

Tip noteThe easiest way to get started building your custom components is to use Qlik Sense Desktop. This section assumes that Qlik Sense Desktop is being used.

This section describes how to create a new version of an already existing custom component.

  1. Copy and paste the folder that contain your assets, and then rename it. The folder should be created in the following location: C:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\Qlik\Sense\Extensions\.

    Example:

    C:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\Qlik\Sense\Extensions\ccs-boilerplate-v2.0

  2. Rename the QEXT file and the main script file.

    Example:

    css-boilerplate-v2.0.qext

    css-boilerplate-v2.0.js

  3. In the QEXT file, change the version field to 2.0.0.

    Example:

    {
      "name": "ccs-boilerplate",
      "description": "Boilerplate for a custom component.",
      "type": "component",
      "version": "2.0.0",
      "author": "Qlik",
      "dependencies":{}
    }
  4. If you are not using Qlik Sense Desktop, you need to install the new version of the custom component from the Qlik Management Console (QMC).

Testing the new version

Now is a good time to test your custom component.

  1. Open Qlik Sense Desktop.
  2. Open Dev Hub.
  3. Create a new widget in the Widget editor.

    Add css-boilerplate version 2.0.0 as a dependency.

  4. Reference the ccs-boilerplate custom component in the HTML code.

    <ccs-boilerplate></ccs-boilerplate>
  5. Select an app to be able to see a preview of your widget containing the custom component. It should look like this:
