# NumMax - script and chart function

Returns the highest numeric value of 1 to N arguments. If no numeric value is found, NULL is returned.

Information noteThe nummax function has been superseded by the [RangeMax - script and chart function](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/qlikview/September2026/Subsystems/Client/Content/QV_QlikView/ChartFunctions/RangeFunctions/rangemax.htm) function. Although nummax can be used, it is not recommended.

Syntax:

NumMax(expr1 [ , expr2, ... exprN ])

Examples and results:

* `nummax( 
   1,2,4 )` returns 4
* `nummax( 
   1,'xyz' )` returns 1
* `nummax( 
   null( ) 'abc' )` returns NULL
