Creating On-Demand reports

On-Demand reports are created in the Qlik NPrinting window in the QlikView AccessPoint interface. The Qlik NPrinting window also displays completed reports for download and reports in queue.

To enable On-Demand reports in Qlik Sense, you will need to install a visualization extension. See: On-Demand reporting extension.

When you create an On-Demand report, the report is added to the report creation queue on the Qlik NPrinting Server. Once a report is complete, it is stored in the Qlik NPrinting repository, but can be downloaded in QlikView. Reports can be accessed from the Qlik NPrinting window in QlikView AccessPoint until deleted. Reports and reports in queue are automatically deleted from the Qlik NPrinting Server after 30 days.

You can access all reports enabled for On-Demand on the Qlik NPrinting Server, prepared on the QlikView document you are using in QlikView AccessPoint.

Note: You should use a different Qlik NPrinting app on the Qlik NPrinting Server for each QlikView document. If you use one app for multiple documents, you will be able to see reports from other QlikView documents, but they will fail.
Note:

Access to On-Demand reporting is set via security roles and is applied at the app level. This limits access to On-Demand reports on an app-by-app basis.

Requirements

Note the following:

  • Qlik NPrinting On-Demand Add-on must be installed on the QlikView Server.
  • Qlik NPrinting administrator must assign On-Demand users a security role with On-Demand Create authorization.
  • Users creating On-Demand reports in QlikView must have their Windows Active Directory user account associated with their Qlik NPrinting web console user account.

    Creating users.

  • Users creating On-Demand reports in QlikView must have a domain and user associated to their Qlik NPrinting web console user account that matches the domain and user of their QlikView Server Windows Active Directory user account.
  • Users working on a QlikView Server or Cluster with a QV Server Extranet License must be correctly configured with an Identity, and must be logged into both Qlik NPrinting and QlikView AccessPoint. Otherwise, bookmarks will not be available.
  • Applying section access and current selections present in the QlikView document is supported.
  • On-Demand sessions appear in the QVS Statistics tab of the QlikView Server, but do not count against session CAL totals.

  • On-Demand will not work with locally saved .qvw files. Files must be available on a QlikView Publisher (QVP) connection.
  • On-Demand requests only work with reports based on a single connection. MultiDoc reports are not supported.

Accepting the Qlik NPrinting web console certificate

Before you create On-Demand reports, log into Qlik NPrinting web console. The default installation certificate for Qlik NPrinting web console can be registered as invalid by browsers. If your browser registers the Qlik NPrinting web console certificate as invalid, you must accept the Qlik NPrinting web console certificate before you can use On-Demand in QlikView AccessPoint.

Note:

If you use a different browser or clear your browser’s cache, you will have to re-accept the Qlik NPrinting certificate. On-Demand works in Chrome, Firefox, and Explorer. It does not run in Microsoft Edge, because the certificates will not download.

Do the following:

  1. Navigate to your Qlik NPrinting web console.
  2. Depending on your browser, choose to continue to the Qlik NPrinting web console or add a security exception and continue to the Qlik NPrinting web console.
  3. Log into your Qlik NPrinting web console.

You can now use Qlik NPrintingOn-Demand in your QlikView AccessPoint using this browser.
