# Tasks

The Tasks tab maps the reload tasks and task chains of Qlik Sense Client-Managed to be migrated to Qlik Cloud. It shows every reload task and task chain, lets you review and fix what cannot migrate as-is, and locks the result in.

The tasks on this tab are migrated by the steps in the [Tasks](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/migration/Content/AnalyticsMigrationTool/Managing-Migration-Steps/Tasks/Tasks.htm) migration steps category, starting with [Migrate Tasks](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/migration/Content/AnalyticsMigrationTool/Managing-Migration-Steps/Tasks/Migrate-Tasks.htm).

Information note

Reload tasks and task chains are retrieved and edited on the Tasks tab only. They are not covered by the Excel export and import of the plan.

## Retrieving tasks

Tasks can be retrieved in two ways:

* Retrieve all tasks: Retrieves every task in the Qlik Sense Client-Managed environment.
* Retrieve by name: Retrieves the tasks that match a name filter.

Information note

Retrieval by name returns standalone tasks only. To retrieve chains, use the retrieval of every task in the environment.

## Chain view

The chain view shows the tasks of the plan as chains. Each task is displayed as a card.

* Pan and zoom the chain view, and use the minimap to find your position in a large chain.
* Collapse and expand branches of a chain.
* Search by task name, application name, or ID.
* Use the filter chips to narrow the view:
  * Cannot migrate
  * Needs a fix
  * Excluded
  * Disabled
  * In a cycle
  * Already in Qlik Cloud
* Use the Client-Managed and Qlik Cloud toggle to switch between the source chain and the chain as it will exist in Qlik Cloud.
* Use the application-focused view to group the tasks by application.

## Inspector

Select a task to open the Inspector, which shows the details of the task:

* The triggers of the task
* The schedule of the task
* The target application. Choose which Qlik Cloud version of the application the task is bound to.
* Whether the task is enabled or disabled
* The option to reload every managed copy of the application. By default, only the primary copy is reloaded.

## Review & fix

Review & fix lists everything that cannot migrate as-is. Each item shows a reason and a remedy. To apply the default remedy of every item at once, select Fix all.

The following remedies are available:

* Exclude a task.
* Cut a task out of a chain and reconnect its children to its parent.
* Replace a task with an existing Qlik Cloud task.
* Split a task onto its own schedule. A schedule builder with a time zone is provided.
* Add a schedule to an entry point that has no trigger.
* Choose which parent to keep where a task waits on several parents.

Every remedy can be undone.

## Locked in

Locking a chain records its final shape as the sign-off record of the chain. To edit a locked chain again, you must first unlock it.

## Working with the Apps tab

The Tasks tab and the Apps tab are linked:

* On the Apps tab, select Include tasks to pull in each selected application's own tasks, and every chain that reaches them.
* On an application row, use the link to jump to the tasks of that application, and back. A banner names the filter that is applied, and the Clear button removes the filter.

## Tasks in a job

Chains that are shown inside a job are read-only. The counts and the chain view remain, but the editing controls are not available, and the button reads View. To edit chains, open the plan. Which tasks belong to the job is still chosen when you edit the job.
