# Update Space Owners

**Prerequisite Steps**:

* `Create Spaces`
* `Import Users` (optional)

## Description

The Update Space Owners step retrieves all spaces from the plan and updates their ownership in the Qlik Cloud tenant according to the defined configuration.

## Step details

* Retrieval method:  
  Spaces are identified by their unique, case-sensitive names in Qlik Cloud.

* Behavior:

  * Each space's owner is updated to match the owner specified in the plan.
  * If the specified owner does not exist in the Qlik Cloud tenant, the ownership change is skipped.
  * Existing owners are replaced with the new owner specified in the plan.

## Notes

* Ensure that user accounts required as new owners are available in the tenant, typically by executing the Import Users step beforehand.
* Ownership changes are not applied retroactively to other asset permissions within the space.
