# Data Connections

The Data Connections section of the Migration Steps includes all steps that concern data connections during migration from Qlik Sense Client-Managed to Qlik Cloud.

These steps enable the export, transformation, and recreation of data connection configurations, including data files and their folder and sub-folder structure, ensuring that applications migrated to Qlik Cloud continue to function with access to the correct underlying data sources.

## Retrieval method in Qlik Cloud

In Qlik Cloud, data connections are uniquely identified by a combination of their name and the space in which they are located.

* A data connection name must be unique within each space.
* Identical names can exist across different spaces.
* The Qlik Analytics Migration Tool uses this uniqueness constraint to accurately locate and manage connections across migration steps.
