# Creating a response file

Before starting the upgrade, you need to create a response file. You may also want to back up your current installation as described in [Upgrading Enterprise Manager](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/enterprise-manager/May2025/Content/EnterpriseManager/Main/Installation/AEM_upgrade.htm).
