To demonstrate Import and Export of metadata for one or more Sources or Entities, the following example shows an export of metadata for a Source from one environment to local machine and then the import of the Entity metadata from the local machine (Downloads folder) to a different environment. Note that import/export of QVDs is not supported from this screen; QVD objects will be filtered out of Import/Export packages. For Dataflows and Publish jobs that use QVDs, those QVDs must be provisioned on the Import side environment in advance using standard automated QVD ingestion process available in Administration>QVD Import. If this is not done the import will fail.
Exporting a Source: Select Import/Export Metadata. Select radio button for export and select individual or multiple Source or Entity Objects to Export/Import and select OK. (If Entities are being exported/imported, both the Source and desired Entities of that Source must be selected). Within the results, Select All, Select None, select one or select multiple objects (Mac: Command+click, Windows: CTRL+click) and select OK.
Files download as a .zip folder. The folder can be saved anywhere but will save in Downloads by default. This is found via Finder in Mac and Favorites in Windows.
Importing a Source: From the environment that will be uploading metadata, navigate to Administration section. Select Import/Export Metadata.
Select the radio button Import and select Sources from the dropdown; Select Choose File and navigate to Downloads (or where the file has been saved) and select the correct file for import.
View the expanded Source/Entity metadata being imported and select Validate and Save.
Navigate to the Source module to view new Source and Entity metadata. Data can now be loaded to the Entities.
Import/Export Logs capture Migration Type, Job Status, Delivery Time, Start Time, and End Time, Object Count, Information Message, Last Update Time.
To view Information Message details, select View Details from Action dropdown.
